To return to the similarity between Jesus and Buddha, which resides primarily
in their wisdom teaching: How does one account for it? The similarity is so strong
that some scholars have suggested direct contact or cultural borrowing as the explanation.
Because the Buddha lived about five hundred years earlier than Jesus, the direction of
borrowing would have been from the Buddha to Jesus.
Popular speculation speaks of Jesus having traveled to India during "The missing years"
the decades before he emerged on the stage of history. There, it is suggested, he came in
